The Network Austin Mixer - History / Core Group

A member of SAG/AFTRA since 1990, Doran W. Ingrham has been a hardcore supporter of the Texas film industry since returning to the USA in 2004. After asking everyone in Austin where the networking mixers were... and finding out there was not one... Doran started The Network Austin Mixer. His goal is to give actors, agents, crew members, producers, directors and writers a venue similar to those found in Los Angeles and New York. The venue? To meet others of like interest and expand their knowledge of and exposure to the entertainment industry.

Gary L. Wimmer spent most of his adult life touring the USA as a musician and working as a psychic. In 1993 he moved to Copenhagen, Denmark and toured throughout Northern Europe, performing in clubs, concerts, and on cruise ships. During this period Gary also began writing. Upon his return to Austin in 2000, he studied acting and screenwriting, and became involved in the film community as an actor, a crew member, and a reader for the Austin Film Festival. Gary met Doran on a movie set in 2004 and joined him in moving the Network Austin Mixer forward.

Donise L. Hardy (CSA) began her casting career in San Francisco, established her company in Los Angeles for 6 years, then moved to Austin in 1999 where she continues to enjoy working in the Texas market. One of the busiest casting directors in the state, she has cast hundreds of commercials, dozens of films and industrials during her 18 year career and has taught classes, specializing in commercial audition technique. Donise sold her company in July, 2007, is now the owner A CASTING PLACE and continues to offer Texas Casting At Its Best! SEE: www.acastingplace.net

IMPORTANT!!!

The Texas Film Incentive Program (House Bill 873) is now in place, thanks to the tireless efforts of past Texas Film Commission Director Bob Hudgins and current Texas Film Commission Director Evan Fitzmaurice (http://www.governor.state.tx.us/film), TX State Rep Dawnna Dukes (http://www.house.state.tx.us/members/dist46/dukes.php), the all-important TXMPA, and thousands of people across the state!

On December 16, 2010, Gov. Rick Perry named Evan Fitzmaurice as Interim Director of Texas Film Commission, and we welcome Mr. Fitzmaurice onboard! Funding for the current TX Film Incentive Program (funded during the 2011 TX Legislative Session) is now $30 million. Still, we in the film, TV, gaming, and associated industries need to join TXMPA, as the battle for renewed funding will begin again concerning the legislative session in 2013. All hands onboard!

Google - Texas film incentives (House Bill 873), and visit http://www.governor.state.tx.us/film and TXMPA and other websites to get details!

TXMPA (http://www.txmpa.org/joomla/) is a nonprofit organization founded in Austin to become the advocate for the film, video, interactive, and digital media production industries in the Texas. TXMPA

  • is committed to educating the general public about our businesses and how we impact their lives through the hundreds of millions of dollars our productions pump into the economy,

Get involved. That's how things get done in politics. Thank you.
