GUEST SPEAKERS:
Nick Krause, Kate Krause, and Liz Atherton

Our Guest Speakers on Wed Sept 8 will be Nick Krause, Kate Krause, and Liz Atherton.

Nick Krause (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1975228/) is a young actor that has done most of his work in Texas – that is before Alexander Payne (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0668247/ ) came calling. Nick just wrapped filming the role of Sid in THE DESCENDANTS (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1033575/), a lead role opposite of George Clooney, Shailene Woodley and Amara Wilson. Prior to this, Nick appeared in JACK AND BOBBY, THE GARAGE, and BOYHOOD, and a had a supporting role in HOW TO EAT FRIED WORMS. The exciting thing is that Nick booked this role FROM TEXAS! Outside of acting, Nick’s passion is music. He is one of two charter “Hall of Fame” honorees at the Austin School of Rock and has performed in venues across the country.

Kate Krause (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2073168/) is a young actor who has a resume that most 15 year old Texan actors would love to have. She was a series regular on FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS for seasons 1, 2 and 3, playing Tabby Garrity, sister to Lyla Garrity and daughter of Buddy Garrity. Kate’s other passion is soccer! She is the goalie for the Austin Texas, a select team, and plays goalie for the Georgetown High School team, as well.

Liz Atherton is the proud mother of Nick and Kate Krause and Mitch and Drew Atherton. Liz is as the owner of The Atherton Group (TAG) Talent Agency (www.TAGTalent.com), which represents professional, award-winning talent, as well as the most impressive rising stars in the business. Founded in 1994, TAG Talent (formally known as Ciao! in Texas) has California, New Mexico, Texas, and Louisiana divisions. TAG actors have been on every major production in Texas. Liz had the good fortune of being on set for three month with Nick in Hawaii while he shot THE DESCENDANTS, and was also on set for all of Kate’s episodes on FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS. She has the perspective not only as that of agent, but also of mom.

Join us on Wed Sept 8 - at our new location with new hours - and get the inside scoop about young actors from those who know - Nick Krause, Kate Krause, and Liz Atherton. We encourage all parents to bring and accompany their sons and daughters who are aspiring young actors!

We are extremely grateful to Dawn Krantz for being our Guest Speaker on Wed August 25. Dawn has years of experience as a powerful and effective ‘middle person’ between business people and artists, and she offered numerous insights about the components necessary for success. In short, Dawn discussed:

Your product: Know what your product is, who you are, and what makes you different.

Marketing: Have a business plan, be aggressive and passionate, use personality, believe you are a winner, network, maintain a database of contacts, keep in touch with them, send Thank You cards, etc.

Competition: Know your competition and what makes you better, and stand out regardless of that competition.

Financing: Set a yearly budget for promotion. Have a vision and a path to bring it about.

Funding films: Most investors who fund low budget movies do so based on emotions. Emotionally connect with investors, meet with them in person, and develop relationships.

Attitudes: Be consciously positive, creative, inventive, and unique, and plant these seed into your subconscious.

Thank you, Dawn, for your profound insights and a marvelous presentation!
